Message first you have to strip in and chop it up. You have to form and weld all of those pieces. Fitting it all together right will take a lot of skillfull cutting. Then weld it all together. Thats about as far as anyone is thinking I'm sure...

But then consider all the baffles and trap doors inside. you have to fab all of those bits and fasten them somehow. For materials we are probably at $100 so far for all the odds and ends. At this point, we have about 6 good hours of skilled labor at $50 an hour (average welders rate). Another $300 bucks. Plating and coating a part that big and complex throws in another $100. You wouldn't want it to rust would you? Total is at $500 so far. All the grinding wheels, consumables, and hand finishing to prepare it for coating puts us up another $50-$100. If the welder was a bit behind or had a bad day, another 2 hours labor wouldn't be hard to imagine. Time flys when you do this sort of work.

So tell me... where is the profit? This is a great price. Never discount the cost of labor and overhead.

Daily driving a TT is like ordering your favorite pizza for breakfast lunch and dinner. It's not healthy and eventually you will lose the magic of the meal. Sometimes you just have to have some meatloaf.

My new meatloaf.... 1994 Black Honda Civic DX :D

what? It looks a little stumpy, but fits great in the hand! (n/m) - ZEngineer 12/12/06
